large mixing bowl Large Mixing Bowl
large spoon Large Spoon
rubber scraper Rubber Scraper

wire rack Wire Rack
microwave Microwave
1

Heat oven to 350°F. Grease the two donut pans or prepare pans as directed by the manufacturer.

2

Stir the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl and set aside.

3

Combine the buttermilk or sour milk, eggs, butter and vanilla and add to the flour mixture. Stir until dry ingredients are evenly moistened. Do not overmix.

Tip

To sour milk, use 1 1/2 tsps white vinegar plus milk to make 1/2 cup.

4

Divide batter equally into the donut wells, filling approximately 2/3 full.

Tip

The batter can be placed in a large food storage bag. Then, cut 1/2 inch off the tip and pipe into donut wells.

5

Bake for 8 to 9 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly touched. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove from pans. Cool the donuts completely on the wire rack.

6

Before serving, roll the donuts in powdered sugar or coat them with the chocolate glaze and garnish as desired. Donuts are best if eaten the day they are made.

Chocolate Glaze: Place 1/2 cup HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, 2 tablespoons light corn syrup and 2 tablespoons butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) in 20-second increments until chips are melted. Stir in 1 teaspoon hot water, adding more hot water 1/2 teaspoon at a time if needed, until the mixture is smooth. Makes about 1/2 cup of glaze.
