    all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsps
    cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 cup
    butter or margarine, softened (1 stick)
  • 1 3/4 cups
    sugar, divided
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 2/3 cups
    HERSHEY'S Cinnamon Chips (10-oz. pkg.)
  • 2 tsps
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup
    shortening

Heat oven to 400° F.

Stir together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Beat butter, shortening and 1-1/2 cups sugar in large bowl until fluffy. Add eggs; beat thoroughly. Gradually add flour mixture, blending well. Stir in cinnamon chips.

Stir together remaining 1 /4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Shape dough into 1-1 /4-inch balls, roll in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 11 minutes or until lightly browned around edges. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 4-1/2 dozen cookies.
