  • 16 oz
    mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup
    water
  • 32 oz
    powdered sugar
  • vegetable shortening
  • gel food coloring (optional)

Pour the marshmallows into a microwave-safe glass bowl.

Pour the water over the marshmallows and stir to evenly coat.

Microwave on high for 30 seconds then stir. Repeat until mixture is smooth.

Add 1 cup of powdered sugar to the marshmallow mixture and stir to combine. Gradually add additional powdered sugar until it will no longer combine.

Coat your hands (or disposable gloves) in shortening and begin kneading the mixture until it’s no longer sticky. You can knead in the bowl or on a prepped surface coated with shortening.

If you’re adding color to your fondant, coat your hands or gloves in shortening and knead a few drops of gel food coloring into the fondant.
