With HERSHEY’S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips gently melted down to perfection, a light and airy cream fills your baked pie crust. The key to this chocolate pie is to chill it for several hours. Once it’s ready, you can get your creative juice flowing by adding whipped cream, sprinkling on mini chocolate chips or drizzling chocolate syrup over the top.

  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4
    egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup
    corn starch
  • 2/3 cup
    sugar
  • 3 cups
    milk
  • 2 Tbsps
    butter or margarine, softened
  • 1
    pie shell (9 inch)
  • sweetened whipped cream or whipped topping (optional)

Bake pie shell; cool. Stir together sugar, cornstarch and salt in a 2 quart saucepan. Combine egg yolks and milk in a container with a pouring spout. Gradually blend milk mixture into sugar mixture.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Add 1-3/4 cups of chocolate chips; stir until the chips are melted and mixture is well blended. Pour into prepared pie shell; press plastic wrap onto filling. Cool. Refrigerate for several hours or until chilled and firm. Garnish with whipped cream and leftover chocolate chips, if desired.

Tip

Pudding may start to clump as it comes to a boil; continue stirring and it will become smooth.
